Drive Me On 04:57
You chained me down You brought me out I see now there’s no escape Cuz’ I belong to you now You love…to lay the whip across my back A willing victim of your games You give me all I need to stay between the lines. You drive me on….on and on. Your sadistic ways Appeal to my masochistic tendencies I love how you punish me When you make me scream your name You love…to lay the whip across my back A willing victim of your games You give me all I need to stay between the lines. You drive me on….on and on. Drive me on. You love…to lay the whip across my back A willing victim of your games These chains start to feel like home to me I was meant to be your slave You give me all I need to stay between the lines. You drive me on….on and on.

Dronin’ on with these tired lines feelin’ the cold of a guided life. Why did I not see it sooner, and engage in resistance? It’s a reflection, of a system in disorder; a cool deception, Forming its borders, to control us, like willing slaves Comin’ on, we resist, and blast away at the hierarchical Modes of control, to gain our freedom, once and for all We see the love in each other’s eyes, and we feel the connection Why did we not get here sooner, and recognize the inflection? It’s just a symptom, of a system in disorder; a cool deception, Forming its borders, to control us, like willing slaves Comin’ on, we resist, and blast away at the hierarchical Modes of control, to gain our freedom, once and for all I am, what you are, we are the same I am what you are, we are, we are, we are, we are the same! Dronin’ on with these tired lines feelin’ the cold of a tired life. Why did we not see it sooner, and engage in resistance?

Cadmium Blue 03:15
Given the time to contemplate..all that I’ve given away The picture that was just black lines…fades to colors that run and fade Oooooooh…I gave it away. This paint-by-numbers life I’ve led…reminds me of what you said. Just do it because it’s right…you’re reward will be knowin’ you did. Oooooooo… I gave it away. Oooooooo… I gave it away. Oooooooo… I gave it away. Gave it all away

This feeling won’t go away, won’t go away. Every solution seems like more of the same They crow about it, And hope we buy it And they lie right to our face. Are we just too dumb to notice? Or are we insane? There aint no way to sustain, Just adding fuel to this runaway train This system don’t care about us. It just perpetuates itself. Nothin’ fallin’ into place. How long will it take us people To see that something’s gotta’ change? Do we wana’ leave the world better than we found it? Will our children call us heroes, or in…say…ay…ay…ay…ayn. Mr. President, got somethin’ on his mind He wana’ make it better, but somehow he changed his mind Does it matter who’s elected? Does it really matter? They just leave us all behind. And if it’s guna’ change We’ll have to change ourselves Future generations will look back and wonder How we could have lived with the shame Do we wana’ leave the world better than we found it? Will our children call us heroes, or insane? Future generations will look back and wonder How we could have lived with the shame Do we wana’ leave the world better than we found it? Will our children call us heroes, or insane?

No More 05:47
All over…the world…people are cryin’ out We all know…something’s just not right The TV’s telling me…I should be afraid They want me to kill…they want me to hate Here come the politicians…to drive it home If we don’t go to war…then freedom’s gone They repeat the mantra…and say it proud We don’t want the smokin’ gun…to become a mushroom cloud You can’t make peace..by waging war Can’t make things better…by killing more All tyranny needs to survive…good people to stand by As long as we look away…listen and blindly obey A decade later…things are still the same Still finding ways…to sell the charade War is a racket…based on lies Profits reckoned in dollar bills…and the losses in lives You can’t make peace..by waging war Can’t make things better…by killing more If we look inside…we see we’re all the same We claim to love a god by…killing in his name All tyranny needs to survive…good people to stand by As long as we look away…listen and blindly obey This can’t go on….it has to end No more…no more… no more… no more All tyranny needs to survive…good people to stand by As long as we look away…listen and blindly obey This can’t go on….it has to end No more…no more… no more… no more

Mr. Politician, can you promise us now That the world you’ve created can sustain us all There’s no “left” and no “right” way to win this fight Nature is a dictator Evolution on our side; a revolution of the mind Maybe you should get out of the way While you’re livin’ like a king, millions are dyin’. And what we wana’ be aint what you’re supplyin’. Can’t give us what we want; won’t give us what we need You’re pyramid is crumbling The system can’t go on; you know it’s obsolete. Let’s replace it with somethin’ better Let it go, let it die Money don’t hold no truth A child’s eyes never lie You seem to love to strut around And try to make things look better May have fooled us once or twice But now we’re pulling together Start lookin’ at yourself; put the bullshit on a shelf The system is dyin’. War is what you sell; you’ve made a living Hell We’re no longer buyin’. Let it go, let it die Money don’t hold no truth A child’s eyes never lie It’s time to…to draw a line Knowin’ that we can’t lose Unless we never try Break Let it go, let it die Money don’t hold no truth A child’s eyes never lie It’s time to…to draw a line Knowin’ we can’t lose Unless we never try

Retribution 04:06
You feel the full weight, it’s crushin’ down Can’t change it, but you can…make restitution Take that medicine…take it like a man The second wrong that made it right was their solution The bad man marches on down from his cell The whole world is better now we sent him straight to Hell There aint no way to steal, what I already gave away Go on run, and tell them all, just what I said This dead man’s walkin’ but I aint’ afraid I know you’ll sleep much better, when you know I’m dead? I feel the cold steel, around my neck It’s the last thing, I’ll ever feel again If I could, I surely would, take it back Even though your world is what made me who I am The bad man marches on down from his cell The whole world is better now we’ve sent him straight to Hell There aint no way to steal, what I already gave away Go on run, and tell them all, just what I said This dead man’s walkin’ but I aint’ afraid I know sleep much better, when you know I’m dead? Last talk…last meal…last taste…last feel Last chance…to say…the way I feel today For your…own sake…forgive me when I’m dead Go on…and take…your retribution There aint no way to steal, what I already gave away Go on run, and tell them all, just what I said This dead man’s walkin’ but I aint’ afraid I know you’ll sleep much better when you know I’m dead? I’m dead…When you know I’m dead

about

Preserving the Aristocracy is a record that gives it to you raw. All of the sounds are as true and unvarnished as we could make them. We think it would be insulting to your intelligence for us to use expensive pitch correction devices and other “polishing” effects. What you hear is exactly what we played and sang; with every flaw and natural nuance of the instruments and voices left right where they happened. We hope that you enjoy our little foray into the “retro-fueled” journey that it turned out to be. You may not identify with all of the subject matter. The important thing is that you allow yourself the opportunity to explore these issues and then, decide for yourself. We leave you now with a popular quote that describes our intent with this record:

“In a decaying society, art, if it is truthful, must also reflect decay. And unless it wants to break faith with its social function, art must show the world as changeable. And help to change it.”
–Ernst Fischer
